Michigan Court Costs in Chapter 13 Bankruptcy
Certain “filing fees” must be paid to the Bankruptcy Court. These costs are separate from your bankruptcy lawyer’s fees. In Michigan the Court Fees to file Chapter 13 Bankruptcy are as follows.
The Filing Fee to File a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy is $310. This ncludes miscellaneous administrative fee of $75.00.

Judges Can Examine Attorney Fees in a Bankruptcy
Attorneys who file Chapter 13 must disclose their attorney fees to the Judge for review and approval. If the Judge finds that the attorney fees charged are excessive or “not reasonable”, the Judge can order an attorney to refund all or a portion of the fee.

If you TV commercials or ads in the newspaper that promise unbelievably low attorney fees in a Chapter 13 case, beware. Many times these “low low” priced ads are deceptive – and then these “low ball” attorneys increase the advertised fees by adding on hidden or additional fees!
Paying Chapter 13 Attorney Fees through the Plan
In Chapter 7 cases court fees and attorney fees are typically paid before the case is filed. But in a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy the court fees and attorney fees are often paid – at least in art – as part of the repayment plan.
